This magnificently colored South American dwarf cichlid (family Cichlidae) is native to Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil.
- Prefers slow water flow
- Driftwood roots or branches for cover
- Sand substrate preferred
- Catappa leaves
- Prefers higher temperatures
- Acidic water specially for breeding
- Peaceful cichlid
Dicrossus filamentosus is also known by Lyretail checkerboard cichlid and Checkerboard cichlid. Synonym to Crenicara filamentosa and Dicrossus filamentosa.
